Who is jeff Long?

Our Grand Lodge is named after Jefferson Franklin Long (March 3, 1836 – February 4, 1901), he was a U.S. congressman from Georgia and the second African American sworn into the U.S. House of Representatives and the first African-American congressman from Georgia.

Long was the first African-American Representative to speak on the floor of the U.S. House, opposing the Amnesty Bill that exempted former Confederates serving in the House from swearing allegiance to the Constitution. He remained the only African American to represent Georgia until Andrew Young was elected in 1972. We wanted to honor his legacy by naming our Grand Lodge after him some 70 years ago.

MW Grand Master

Illustrious Jeffrey Charles Trammell, 33º has been a member of International Masons for more than 15 years, he is originally from Louisiana. He is a member of King James Lodge #121 and has served in multiple roles, including Worshipful Master.

Trammell joins a long line of those who have served in the role of the Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Jeff Long Grand Lodge. He oversees a brotherhood of 300+ Georgians spread throughout the State of Georgia in 20+ Lodges. He is active in all degree houses and resides in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Grand Master is the highest-ranking official in the State of Georgia and he is responsible for overseeing and directing the operations of the Grand Lodge. He presides over Masonic meetings and ceremonies, setting the organization’s agenda, and providing guidance and leadership to the Georgia Brotherhood. He is the public face of the organization, representing International Masons in the community and promoting its values of brotherhood, charity, and morality.

International Masons of Georgia focus on the principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth. We are expected to demonstrate compassion towards our fellow brothers and the communities where we have a presence. We also provide assistance to those in need, and always seek to uphold truth and justice in our personal and professional lives.

Our Lodges allow us an opportunity to engage in continuous self-improvement and personal growth, striving to live a virtuous life and always act in a manner that reflects the values of the Brotherhood. We encourage Brother to participate in charitable activities and contribute to the betterment of society as a whole.
